Mihai Pol
Romania has quite an extensive history with minimal tech-house. The various waves of talent to bust out of the country have something in common: they were all masters of form and function. Mihai Pol is one of Romania’s most notable names emerging, touring the world while keeping it underground.
Mihai Pol burst onto the scene in 2016 with “Goneta” through Capodopere, a EP, which stood out for its lightness and striking uniqueness. His discography has evolved at a pace all its own. No two 12-inch records sound the same – from the sputtering acid of “Synkop” to the dreamy, rolling house textures of “Tango”. Telum Records, with whom Mihai has collaborated on a few releases, is one of his strongest supporters.
Following his work as a producer, Mihai works equally on the mind and the body in his role as DJ; this requires true artistry to pull on the hearts and move the legs in rhythm at the same time. “I like to make people dance and feel good, but I also try to tell a story, so it’s something in between,” says Mihai.
Fast forward to the present and we see him traveling the world’s underground venues (Red58, Hoppetosse, La Java, The Block, Frieda’s Bruxe and many more) and festivals (one of the best – Sunwaves) with pit stops on every continent.
